Mega Man still can't slide or charge his weapon as he could in Mega Man 3 and 4, respectively, but you can also play as Proto Man who has both of these abilities as well as his trademark shield to block projectiles - however, Proto Man takes twice as much damage from enemy attacks. The player must again jump, run and shoot his way through 8 stages filled with robotic enemies, destroy the Robot Master at the end of the stage and take his weapon to be used against further enemies. Mega Man 10 retains the 8-bitish graphical style and gameplay of its predecessor Mega Man 9 and the old NES titles. Mega Man must fight eight violent robots to retrieve the machine and save the world. Wily claims to have built a medicine making machine to cure the epidemic, but it has been stolen by the berserk robots. Humankind would be helpless enough without the aid of their robot assistants - but the worst is yet to come! The second phase of the illness causes the infected robots to turn against their masters and try to take over the world! Dr. A virus called Roboenza starts infecting robots, rendering them useless. Wily appears on television to proclaim that Dr.20XX. Light is stunned to recognize that some of the robots rioting on the TV screen are his own creations. Whilst many people suspect that this is another plot from Dr. Set after the events of Mega Man 8, multiple riots have sprung up all over the world. Light outfits one of his domestic robots “Rock” to fight Dr. Wily, plots for world domination and creates his own robot army to take over mankind. The story of Mega Man begins in the year 200X, as the advanced science of the era has created industrial robots that co-exist with humans.
